Our Plan to Save Lives with AEDs

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) continues to be one of the leading causes of death in Australia.
Defibrillators have the power to change this and save lives.
In making a decision as to which Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to purchase, you need to carefully consider the 4 links in the internationally accepted chain of survival – otherwise your investment might be an unwise one. These links are:
• Early Access – (i.e. someone has to be there to help)
• Early CPR
• Early Defibrillation
• Early Advanced Care – (i.e. the victim needs to receive hospitalisation).

Having an automated external defibrillator means you can step in with the tools to save a life before paramedics arrive. Literally every minute counts when you are dealing with a cardiac arrest. Research shows survival rates of up to 70% can be achieved if an AED is on hand.
Why you need Defibrillators during a sudden cardiac arrest:
• Defibrillation within the first few minutes of having a Sudden Cardiac Arrest increases the chance of survival to over 70%
• Without early defibrillation with an AED, less than 5% of cardiac arrest victims survive
• Without defibrillation, for every minute that passes, the chance of survival reduces by 10%
• Average ambulance response times can be 8-10 minutes or more in metro areas and up to 30 minutes or more in regional areas. Defibrillation in combination with CPR gives victims the best chance of survival while waiting for an Ambulance to arrive
There are very few times when a defibrillator is needed in the community, but when that time comes and it's your dad, your mum or someone you care about, you'd give an arm and a leg just to have one nearby. Having and AED on hand gives confidence that should the worst happen, your organisation is prepared and ready to help save lives.
Why do we use and recommend The HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500P Defibrillator?
It combines the very best in public access AED technology. Offering the unique CPR feedback technology, the 500p gives real-time feedback to the rescuer maximises the chances of survival!
About 70% of all CPR is ineffectively performed, even by trained first responders. This is because, unfortunately, there is a huge difference from individual to individual, with appropriate force and pressure required to perform effective compressions.
The HeartSine Samaritan 500P Defibrillator contains technology that determines whether your compressions are effective, electrically through the defibrillation pads.
Not only will voice prompts guide you through the process of defibrillation, but this device will tell you to “Push Harder” or whether you are doing “Good Compressions” during CPR – all based on real cardiac output (real blood flow).
