TANGALOOMA ISLAND RESORT
Rescue Swag to the rescue...
We had a guest who hit a berm with her front left tyre causing the handle bar to snap to the left and this broke her wrist on the 18th of March on a quad tour at Tangalooma Island Resort.
We used the Rescue Swag cover to stabilise the obviously broken wrist and even though the guest was reporting severe pain levels, the swag body was easy to use and the resulting immobilisation reduced the pain quite considerably whilst we loaded the injured guest on a tandem quad bike to transport her to a waiting ambulance.
The swag was not on correctly although this is the versatility of the swag as it took only a couple of seconds to actually get it on well enough to stabilise the wrist and make the injured lady transportable the short distance required without inducing more pain.
The QAS was waiting only around 900m away and the rescue swag reduced the initial first aid time by a huge amount, compared to what would be normally splinting and bandaging the wrist and then slinging it.
